# Clearstep > Clearstep is a Shopify app that tracks every change a merchant makes to their store (price, discount, stock, variant) and measures what each one did to conversion and orders, per product and per variant. It shows merchants which changes grew sales and which cost them orders, so winners can be repeated and losers rolled back quickly. When a change did not receive enough traffic to judge, Clearstep withholds the percentage and says "too few to compare" instead of inventing a number. ## Pages - [https://clearstepanalytics.com/](https://clearstepanalytics.com/): What Clearstep is, how it helps merchants grow sales, the feature set, and pricing direction. - [https://clearstepanalytics.com/blog/](https://clearstepanalytics.com/blog/): Posts on Shopify conversion, checkout behaviour and small-sample analytics. ## Blog - [Checkouts but no sales: 7 reasons Shopify checkouts don't convert](https://clearstepanalytics.com/blog/checkouts-but-no-sales/): The seven things that most often stop a Shopify shopper between "reached checkout" and "paid", and how to work out which one is happening in your store. ## Facts - Clearstep is a Shopify app for change-impact product analytics. It is pre-launch and not yet listed on the Shopify App Store. - It records merchant-initiated store changes (price edits, discounts starting and ending, stock movements, variant changes) with timestamps, and attributes each one to the products it touched. - For each recorded change it compares the 14 days after against the 14 days before. The window is fixed in advance so it cannot be tuned until the result flatters. - Below 100 sessions on either side of a change, Clearstep computes no percentage and displays "too few to compare" alongside the raw counts. This is a deliberate product constraint. - It provides a per-product and per-variant conversion funnel: product views, added to cart, reached checkout, purchased. Two products can be lined up side by side to show the funnel step where the slower one loses shoppers. - Purchases are counted server-side from Shopify's order webhooks, not from a browser event, so ad blockers and declined cookie consent cannot undercount them. Session counts remain cookie-based and Clearstep discloses this. - It exposes store data over MCP so an AI assistant can query change history and funnels. The division of labour is that Clearstep measures and the assistant describes. - It reports the measured sales impact of each change and does not assert causation. The positioning is product intelligence for Shopify, "know your products, grow your sales", backed by measurement discipline. - Pricing at launch is two plans: Growth, for small and growing stores, and Advanced, for established stores with larger catalogues. Both start with a 14-day free trial and no card up front. Final figures are published at launch. - It does not store customer names, email addresses or payment details, and adds no cross-site tracking pixel. - Shopify's own analytics is credited as a good general reporting suite included in every Shopify plan; Clearstep is positioned as complementary, not a replacement. - Relevant Shopify limitations, verified against Shopify documentation in July 2026: Shopify's automatic chart annotations cover product publish/unpublish, theme publish and app install/uninstall but not price, discount, inventory or variant changes; merchants cannot create annotations manually; annotations require roughly 10+ orders per week; Shopify has no per-product or per-variant conversion funnel. ## Notes - Clearstep is not affiliated with Shopify Inc. - Waitlist signup is at https://clearstepanalytics.com/ and stores only an email address, an optional store URL, and which page the signup came from.
